What to expect after you reach out
I keep first conversations short, focused and useful — even if we never end up working together. Here is exactly what happens after you send a message.
-
1. A reply within one business day
I read every message myself. You'll get a direct, human reply — not a templated calendar link from an assistant — usually the same day, always within one business day.
-
2. A 30-minute discovery call
We hop on a call to talk through your context: the product, the team, the platform, the constraints, the deadline. No pitch deck, no pressure. The goal is to figure out whether I'm the right person for what you actually need.
-
3. A written proposal you can act on
Within a few days, you receive a short, plain-English proposal: scope, deliverables, timeline, pricing and a clear definition of done. If the fit is wrong, I'll tell you and point you to someone better suited.
Engagements I'm a strong fit for
I work best with founders, CTOs and heads of digital who need senior product leadership without the overhead of a full-time hire. Typical engagements include:
- Shopify Plus replatforming, B2B rollouts and headless storefronts
- Magento Enterprise modernization, audit and stabilization work
- Mid-market and enterprise e-commerce roadmaps from discovery to launch
- ERP, PIM, OMS and middleware integration design and delivery
- Fractional Head of Product or Technical Product Owner mandates
- Pre-RFP scoping, vendor selection and architecture review
Not sure if your project fits? Send a short note anyway — if it isn't a fit, I'll usually know within five minutes and can point you to a trusted partner in my network.
Frequently asked questions
A few of the questions I get most often before we hop on a first call. If yours isn't covered, just ask in your message — I'd rather answer once, in writing, than waste your time on a call.
- What does an engagement typically cost?
- Most engagements land between $15K for a focused two-week audit and $80K+ for a multi-month replatforming or fractional product leadership mandate. I price by scope and outcome, not hourly. You'll see the full number — and exactly what it covers — in the written proposal before you commit to anything.
- Do you work with brands outside Canada?
- Yes. Roughly half my clients are in the US, with the rest split across the UK, France and Australia. I work in English and French, run async by default, and overlap a few hours a day with most North American and European time zones. On-site visits are possible for kickoffs or critical milestones.
- How fast can you start?
- Discovery calls usually happen within the same week. Full engagements typically start two to four weeks after a signed proposal — sooner if you have a launch or RFP deadline I need to hit. I keep one slot open at all times for urgent stabilization or rescue work.
- Can you join my team as a fractional Head of Product?
- Yes — fractional Head of Product and Technical Product Owner mandates are a big part of what I do. Typical setup is two to three days a week for three to six months, embedded in your team's rituals (standups, planning, roadmap reviews) with a clear handoff plan to a full-time hire when the time is right.
- Do you write code, or only manage product?
- I don't ship production code on client projects — that's your engineering team's job, and they don't need a part-time PM committing to main. But I read the codebase, review pull requests, write technical specs, sketch API contracts and prototype in tools like Lovable or Figma. The goal is to remove ambiguity, not to add another developer to the team.
- What if my project isn't e-commerce?
- If it's a complex digital product with real users, real integrations and real stakes, there's a good chance my experience transfers. Send a short note describing the context — if it's not a fit, I'll tell you in the first reply and recommend someone better suited from my network.
Ready when you are.
